As a statistician, I have always been told that explanatory variables and independent variables are really the same thing. If the meanings are different in various fields, this needs to be determined. Otherwise, I think it would be a good idea to consider merging the two articles and putting a redirect from one to the other. Any thoughts on this? --Statwizard03:48, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
