Arijit Singh (born 25 April 1987)[1] is an Indian playback singer whose songs have been featured in recent Bollywood movies. He was one of top six contestants in reality-singing series, Fame Gurukul in 2005 and became an assistant to music director Pritam.[2]

Career

He finished Fame Gurukul in (2005) and then settled in Mumbai in 2006. From 2006-07, He was paid every month by Kumar Taurani's music company since he was doing an album with them. The album didn't release until 2007, so he went to Kumar and said, "The album is not happening for whatever reason, so don't pay me because if I am not working there is no point taking money every month." So he refused money from them and started freelancing. [3]

Acting ambition

Raj Chakraborty called him into doing one music video for Bojhena Shey Bojhena. He did not want to do that. He didn't want to do all of that. He could see for himself that how uncomfortable he would look on screen..He is also featured in "Ghoom Paranir Gaan" from the film Proloy.

Playback Singing

Singh is a trained classical singer who has performed in many stage shows. His career as a playback singer started when he participated in a singing reality show called Fame Gurukul (2005), while still in college.[1][4] Although he did not win the competition, his participation garnered respect and love from fans. He went on to win a subsequent reality show called 10 ke 10 le gaye dil with the help of audience votes.[5] Shankar Ehsaan Loy gave Arijit the first break on one of their songs called "All For One" from High School Musical 2 (Vol 1) album. Moreover, he also sung the title song "Hum Hai Deewane" of the Indian TV show called Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon and "Dadagiri"(with Avishek Das) featuring Sourav Gangully. He has also sung the title track of Bengali television serial "Tomay Amay Mile" with Ujjaini Mukherjee. In the 2013 Bollywood blockbuster film Aashiqui 2, Tum Hi Ho received a lot of praise.
