Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation
The Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation is a peer-reviewed journal hosted by ELSEVIER. The journal publishes monthly volumes of papers on the latest innovative technologies and topics in the field of visual communication and image representation. The focus of the journal is on lead-edge pure and applied research from different disciplines. A few examples of subject matter include: psychophysical analysis of visual perception, biological and medical imaging, fractals, image scanning and real time imaging. The Journal Citation Reports rates the impact factor at 1.195 for 2012 and 1.430 for the five-year impact (2012 to 2008).
Accessing Articles The journal is published as volumes and can be ordered as a subscription. Non-subscribers may view highlights, the abstract and images, graphs, or charts within the paper but will need to purchase a subscription or pay for an individual article.
Article Submission The journal provides a PDF guide for authors on how to submit papers and provides a fully online service for submitting and tracking the status of a submitted paper. The Journal Insights section provides metrics for the length of time required to review and publish and article with the ability for authors to check the paper’s status. Authors may also choose to publish with OpenAccess.

Journal Insights The Journal Insights sections presents metrics for the journal which in include interactive charts and graphs. This section also presents another graph to represent the speed of publication: the length of time it takes to review and to publish a paper.
Recent Open Access Articles Most recent articles published using the journal’s Open Access feature.
Open Access Options OpenAccess is another method for accessing and publishing papers. Authors can pay to publish using this method and choose between three Creative Commons Licenses or the Elsevier license.
Most Cited Articles A list of articles that have be cited most often in other publications.
Special Issues These issues are available for a fee.

Authorship access/submission process The journal provides an online submission process which includes artwork guidelines, copyright information, funding compliance and language services. Tutorials for submitting papers are provided as well as a PDF guide for authors. The journal also offer a free service, “AudioSlides” that allows authors to describe their research using slides and audio.
