Ladies' Code (Korean: 레이디스 코드) is a South Korean girl group formed by Polaris Entertainment in 2013. Consisting of leader Ashley and members RiSe, Sojung, Zuny, and EunB, they made their debut with the mini-album Code #01 and the lead track Bad Girl, which was released on March 7, 2013.

History

Pre-debut

The group already garnered massive popularity even before its debut. Most of the members were already in the entertainment industry before the group's debut.

RiSe participated in Miss Korea 2009 as a representative of Japan[1] and won the Korean Abroad Award.[2] She gained popularity by starring in the talent show called Birth of a Great Star, and finished in the Top 12, along with David Oh.[3] She then appeared again with David Oh as a couple on the couple-making show called We Got Married.[4][5] Sojung was a finalist and finished Top 8 on the talent show called The Voice of Korea.

EunB is related to news reporter, Kim Sung Joon.[6] Ashley, prior to her debut, was an internet sensation who uploaded dance covers of famous K-pop songs to YouTube under the channel name ashleych0i.

2013: Debut and Hate You

Last February, member Sojung confirmed that she will join a girl group formed by Polaris Entertainment, and they will debut this March. Starting from February 24, they released Rise's teaser,[7] 25 for Sojung, 26 for EunB, 27 and 28 for Zuny and leader Ashley respectively. On March 3, they released their teaser featuring the bad guys for their music video.

They released their song and music video physically and digitally on March 7. Just the day after their debut, their song charted high on real-time charts, peaking at #8, #9, and #10 on Soribada, Daum, and Naver real-time charts, and eventually peaking at #34 on the Gaon singles chart. They had their first live performance on M! Countdown on March 7, the day of their debut.

On August 6, 2013, they released their first digital single titled "Hate You". The song debuted high on real-time charts, peaking at #3, #8, and #11 on Bugs, Mnet, and Cyworld real-time charts.

On August 21, Ladies' Code announced their comeback for their 2nd mini-album, titled 'Pretty Pretty'.
