Vashi is an upmarket and the most developed residential as well as commercial node in Mumbai. It is a premier township in Navi Mumbai and was one of the first "nodes" developed by City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). It is often called the King of Navi Mumbai.Today Vashi is fully developed and boasts of modern world class infrastructure. Vashi is divided into many sectors of which Sector-1 to sector-8 is known for its fully residential buildings.Sector-17 is known for its shopping areas.Sector-30 is the new node which has got many malls and Information technology buildings and the vashi Station.The Malls(listed according to their opening times) in Vashi are Center one,Palm Beach Galleria,City Center,Raghuleela Arcade,Inorbit mall,Satra Plaza and Fantasia mall.Vashi has many schools like Father Agnel School,St.Marys School,Sacred heart school,St.Lawrence School,Sainath School,Navi Mumbai School ,Vashi English High School,etc.Vashi also has a world class Exhibition center in Sector-30.Vashi has got many High class Hotels like the Tunga Regancy, Four Points by Sheraton, Fortune Select Exotica Hotel, Royal Orchid Central Grazia,the abbot hotel,and Days Inn.It has got The APMC market,one of the largest markets in India.Vashi is known for its cleanliness compared to other ares of mumbai. Vashi has got two main villages in it.they are the juhu gaon and the vashi gaon.The big hospitals in Vashi are the NMMC hospital, The Fortis,Mahatma Gandhi Mission(MGM).Vashi is also Environmental friendly as the NMMC has planted Trees on both sides of the roads on majority of its places and also every node has its own parks and playground,which has benefited both the young and the old
Climate
Being in close proximity to the sea, Vashi is mostly humid and hot in summer and mildly pleasant during the winter months of November, December, and January. Western Ghats run in parallel along the east of the town, resulting in relative heavier shower than Mumbai.
Economy
Vashi is one of the oldest and most populated nodes in Navi Mumbai. Many companies from Mumbai and other parts of India have set up shop there. Sector-17, in turn, is the commercial heart of Vashi, hosting a dense concentration of small business, offices, clinics, banks, retail outlets, restaurants and franchise operations. Sectors 9 and 10 are also heavy with commercial activity, especially retail. A large APMC market, the biggest in Asia for wholesale agricultural produce, is located in Sector-19 and part of Sector-18.

Vashi is very conveniently located on the Sion-Panvel Highway. It is the first node of Navi Mumbai from the Mumbai direction.It is well connected by rail and road. It used to be connected by hovercraft services before, but was stopped due to losses. It takes about 55 minutes to travel by train to the main city, and about one and a half hour by car. The railway line used is known as Harbour line. Travel time in car is expected to reduce to just an 30 minute drive by road once the Eastern Freeway will be opened on 2013. The Sion-Panvel Highway and the Palm Beach Road intersection is at Vashi Sector-17. Auto rickshaws, taxis, buses and radio cabs are available easily. Auto rickshaws in this part of the city charge according to the meter unlike other parts of the city. There are currently two main bus stand in Vashi, one at railway station and the other at Shivaji Chowk. Another bus stand is expected to be made at Sector-12. Vashi's population has increased drastically over the last decade and this has resulted in heavy traffic during the peak hours on the Vashi-Kopar Khairane. However the traffic in Palm Beach Road is not affected by jams. Plans to connect Vashi to Mumbai and rest of Navi mumbai through Metro has been planned and will be executed in the future. BEST buses are available from Vashi to Chembur, Sion, Dadar, Worli, Byculla, Bandra, Mulund, Bhandup, Ghatkopar, Santacruz, Andheri, Powai, Dindoshi & Borivali. BEST AC Kinglong and NMMT AC Volvo buses are available from Vashi to Dadar, Worli, Bandra & Borivali. Vashi has sparse bus routes within its residential area, but has good railway connections with CST and Panvel.
