Area code 308 is the telephone numbering plan code for western Nebraska in the North American Numbering Plan. It was created on July 1, 1954 as a split from area code 402. The roughly S-shaped 308/402 line generally runs (from south to north): northeast along the Platte River and then northwest along the eastern edge of the Sandhills.

The area code is one of the most sparsely populated in the nation, and is not expected to exhaust until 2033.^[1]
