Smart terminal

In computing, smart terminal can mean either:

  • A thin client with local data processing capacity
  • A computer terminal that has capabilities for cursor positioning, or other display formatting capabilities beyond a text-mode teleprinter
  • A block-oriented terminal which typically offloads form or panel editing from a mainframe computer
