Bubbojones Born january 23, 1956 to Ida Mae and Willie James Jones, Willie James Jones Jr. was born in Greensboro Alabama (Hale County) and was nicknamed "bubbo" by one of his mothers' many brothers when he was 6 months old, and that name stuck with him. His mom moved to cleveland ohio in 1956 to unite with her husband. He loved music, would sit with his back facing the tv and sing the commericals, or make music sounds with his mouth blowing more "bubbos" lol) to the music, from both radio and tv. His mom spent years in their home church chior and also with a group called the Holbrook Singers. They would travel the country singing in various cities and carrying their children with them. Tho Bubbo participated in church chiors, his big moment came when he was 8 years old, and at the church's annual chior summer concert, Bubbo then played a bongo solo, and the church went in with applause and cheers. His thirst for music grew more in tensed as he picked up da violin and played with the school band, and from there he played the drums, and also attended the Cleveland Music Settlement to further his studies into playing drums. Tho he was playing for his church, his first taste of the group life came when he joined Rev. Ed Montgomery, his sister Beverly, Patty and Sederia Howard, Cathy Goulding, Raymond Collins Jr., Kevin Purnell and Earl Crowell and formed da group, "All Gods' Children." They did recordings in the studio as well as church appearances. The group separated when Montgomery left cleveland to go to school in Texas in da early 70's. Continued schooling with the music settlement and being tops in his class got, the attention of the late Ozzie Horne, who was the band conductor for the Issac Hayes Band, and when the original drummer busted his leg on a ski trip, Ozzie asked Bubbo to fill in for a few shows. Only four shows over a one month period, but he then returned back to cleveland and attending Shaw high school in east cleveland, was instituted by Mrs. Parsh to do school announcements during homeroom period, gained da attention of Mr. Van Lane, general manager for WJMO, (where he also delivered the newspapers to daily) thus landing him a spot on the weekly high school news reporter for the urban radio station. Tho he's gained da respect of his predecessors at the station who'd did some long years at the station, his personal favorite was a up and comin dj named "shotgun.' Shotgun sorta took Bubbo (Bill as he'll always recognize him as) under his wing and allowed him to hang out at his shows, go and do remote broadcasts and functions with him, and introduced him to artists and stars that came thru the station. And when Shotgun (Lynn Tolliver) left WJMO and went to WGCL in da mid 70s', Bubbo followed the hot radio jock there and furthered his radio association/academics alongside Tolliver, til he went into the marines in 73. He went into field radio and motor transport, which soon then turned to straight radio show host for the USO weekly show from 74-75. In 75, went to Hawaii (Pearl Harbor) base, and while workin radio, got into trouble, and was court-marshall'd for drug trafficing, served 6 months in Leavenworth Kansas, released under less than honorable conditions, afterwhich, found himself in more trouble for physically abusing a female he'd previously had sex with, that tried to rob him. That got him 4 and a half years, came home in 1980. Applied but couldn't find no radio/media work, he went back to his home church and began playin da bass guitar for da chiors, while doin construction as a plasterer with a neighbor from down the street where he lived. He worked for many years living this life and spending time now with his two kids (girl and a boy) by separate parents, he's strayed away from the radio/studio life and was just being happy playing for the church, til one day in the early 90s'. His nephew Joe Little came to him, and made mention that his singing group the "Rude Boys" were being considered by Gerald Levert for a contract, and told him that whatever he needed from him? He got him. First he attended rehearsals, then studio sessions, and even their first shows. From then, Gerald gave Bubbo the green light to hang out at their functions, shows and events, but Bubbo went back to the church and construction life. Then, once Joe was asked to do a solo project? Bubbo came back to work with Joe, and after Joe had finished his album, he collaborated with many artists thereafter and did many songs, including with Gerald Levert on his Love and Consequences CD, and also with Gerald, Keith Sweat, and Bubbo to create the song "I'm not ready" performed by Keith Sweat in 97. From there they went on and worked with many other writers and producers and created many many more songs together. He wrote and did music for Lil Mob Publishing til 2004, when he eventually create his own music publishing company, Jonesboy. Writing several songs for artists, and jingles for big named companies has keped him afloat these years til 2010, when he met Martha Samasoni from Wellington New Zealand, and she asked him to join www.muzicheadz.com and produce her weekly radio show. Enthused by the opportunity to get back into radio, he jumped at the chance to do so, and has created Shhh Music Productions since this union which is the company that produces the shows, and music that Bubbo produces today. Nowadays he still writes, plays, and now sings music, does shows, and still does construction, but now has a bigger expectancy rate daily from his many talents to produce something meaningful everyday.
