Eventfinda aggregates event information across a wide spectrum of sources into a single destination website. The website covers all genres, and is not limited to a specific category or type of event, and enables event organizers to list and promote events of any size through the website for free. The website also enables event promoters, venues and artists to create and manage their own online ticket sales. The platform's API enables third parties to connect with the events database to display events in other media[1] . The company operates in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Austria and the United States[2].

Founders

Eventfinda was founded by Michael Turner in Auckland, New Zealand in July 2005[3]. James McGlinn joined the company as co-founder & CTO in 2006[4].

Countries

The website was first launched in New Zealand as Eventfinder on the URL eventfinder.co.nz in January 2006. In 2009 the company licensed the platform to Medienhaus, an Austrian media company, and was launched under the brand Wohintipp on the the URL wohintipp.at, as the ccTLD for Eventfinder in Austria was already registered. In July 2011 the company launched the platform in Australia[5] under the brand Eventfinder on the URL eventfinder.com.au. In December 2011 the license to operate the platform in Australia was acquired by Peer Group Media.

Products

Eventfinda has two principle products — the consumer facing websites, and Eventfinda Pro, which enables event organizers, promoters, venues and artists to list, promote and ticket their events. Eventfinda Pro allows anyone to list their event for free irrespective of which ticketing service provider they use. Ticketing services are optional, and enable promoters to sell tickets to simple events with a single price point, through to complex events spanning multiple days and tiered price points. In 2011 Eventfinda Pro won Best User Experience[6] at New Zealand's Internet industry awards, known as the Onya's[7].

Partnerships

In 2010 Eventfinda formed a public-private partnership with New Zealand's Ministry for Culture & Heritage, providing a single point of entry for the cultural sector's event information[8].
