TimeTree is a public database for estimating divergence times between two or more species, and is currently available online and as an application for mobile platforms. It sources molecular time estimates from a large number of scientific publications and averages them, using the times from the most inclusive groups for the individual taxa in question. [1] Upon generation of the estimates, a timescale of periods and epochs is created to scale the varying estimates from the different studies and the two taxa used to time the tree for each source is displayed.
