Telerik Test Studio is a software testing tool for web and desktop functional testing,[1] software performance testing, load testing [2] and mobile application testing developed by Telerik.[3] Test Studio[4] is used for testing all types of web and desktop applications[5] without the need of writing code. The tool enables easy collaboration between developers and QA professionals. Test Studio supports various web technologies such as HTML, AJAX, Silverlight, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript.

Product

Functional Testing - The tool provides test automation support for any application - Silverlight, WPF, AJAX, HTML, and MVC included, as well as support for Visual Studio 2012. It offers a Visual Studio plug-in and a standalone application to help QAs build cross-browser tests, customize them in code within Visual Studio, or convert them to unit tests.

  • Testing Ajax Apps - With Test Studio QAs can easily test ASP.NET AJAX and client-side functionality or bind test steps to a data source. It supports JavaScript function invocation and validation directly from the .NET code.
  • Testing Silverlight Apps - Test Studio is a codeless Silverlight UI testing automation tool. The Studio’s UI object model gives users the ability to build test automation for the full range of UI elements available in Silverlight. It plugs directly into the Silverlight application it automates and has access to every element/object in the entire Silverlight application.
  • Testing HTML Apps - With Test Studio it’s possible to test the reliability of rich, interactive JavaScript apps with just a few clicks. It features built-in translators for the new HTML5 controls <canvas>, <audio>, <video>, cross-browser support, JavaScript event handling, and codeless test automation of multimedia elements.
  • QA-Developer Collaboration - Collaboration between developers and QAs is effortless, even if they are not in the same office. Telerik Test Studio ships with a standalone application aimed at QAs and a Visual Studio plug-in crafted for developers. Both tools use the same repositories and file formats so that QAs can check-in tests in the main project, which developers can then extend with code. In addition, teammates can quickly get an idea what their colleagues have already recorded through the built-in Visual Storyboard tool.

Performance Testing - Test Studio is also a performance testing tool that allows users to analyze metrics on the server and on the client, explore the HTTP traffic requests and performance counter data. Benchmarks can be created against which later results are compared for regression detection or goal setting. Performance metrics supplement the existing functional UI tests to include such data as server processing time, network latency, and client rendering time.

Load Testing - With Test Studio QAs can build up on existing functional tests and run load tests to get a better understanding of their website performance when put under extreme conditions. Test Studio's load agents are proficient at making use of multi-core, hyper threaded CPUs in order to generate a high user load.

Mobile Testing - In March 2012 Telerik entered the iOS World. With Test Studio for iOS developers can automate tests for iPhone, iPad & iPod apps. Testing native and web apps directly on the device is also possible. Test Studio for iOS relies on object based recording instead. No jailbreak is needed! Development platforms supported: MonoTouch, PhoneGap, Xcode. Cloud sync of tests and results across different devices and among team members is available thanks to the companion web portal [6].
