St. Mary's College of Engineering and Technology (SMCET) is a technical institute located in Deshmukhi, Hyderabad, India. The college is affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
History
The college was established in 1996, with three undergraduate programmes and an intake of 180 students. By 2007 it had grown to four undergraduate courses with seven sections and four postgraduate courses with a total intake of 681 students.
Campus
The college campus is spread over 100 acres, surrounded by hills and valleys, situated about 20 km from the centre of Hyderabad.[1]
Organisation and structure
The college is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation and is ISO 9001:2000 certified.
It is the only college in India to obtain approval for United States MS and MBAs from AICTE. Seven branches of engineering have been accredited by the National Board New Delhi.[2]
Academic profile
The college admits undergraduate students through its own entrance test and through EAMCET examinations conducted every year. Through GATE, M.Tech and MS courses are offered to about 900 students. Through ICET Management courses are available to about 360 students.
It offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) courses in Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering,Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Information Technology Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
The Masters in Technology (M.Tech) course is offered to graduates of these B.Tech courses.
Apart from the regular undergraduate program the college also has an International Center that offers dual degree programs in collaboration with Napier University, Edinburgh, and Marist College, New York.
SMCET was ranked as one of 10 promising engineering colleges in India by ICMR. The college applied for "deemed university" status but this status was abolished.[3]
