"I'm a Ramblin' Man" is the title of a song written by Ray Pennington. He recorded the song in 1967 for Capitol Records and took it to number 29 on the country charts.[1]

It was later performed by Waylon Jennings. "I'm a Ramblin' Man" would be Waylon Jennings' second number one on the country chart. The single would stay at number one for a single week and also appeared on Australian charts.[2]

The song is a warning to beware ramblers.[3]

My grandfather actually wrote it, and sadly he did not get copyrights on it when he gave it to Waylon for his birthday, and died before he could correct that mistake. So no, Ray did not write it.
