Dashcode is a software application created by Apple Computer. It was discovered on new MacBooks shipping around the time of May 24th 2006, as part of the Xcode developer tools. It allows the user to create their own widgets for Dashboard.

Mistake?

The software is reported to have been included with new MacBooks and MacBook Pros by mistake and several users have confirmed stability issues with the software. It is currently unclear whether or not Apple intended for this to be one of the additions to the next version of OSX, 10.5 Leopard, and would be still, in fact, only in developmental stages. It was not included as part of the XCode 2.3 update available from Apple at the time of DashCodes discovery, fueling further speculation. Rumours of the softwares existance first surfaced with video posted on various Mac rumours sites in November 2005.
