Web-based VoIP
Appearance
Web-based VoIP uses a web page with audio input/output capabilities (typically using Flash, Active X, or Silverlight) to initiate a Voice over IP audio connection, rather than dedicated VoIP hardware or software. This can be used, for example, to connect a person visiting a company's web site to speak with a customer service representative without leaving the site or using a conventional telephone. It requires that the computer viewing the web page have connected speakers and microphone.
A VoIP connection is only one of several options for click to talk elements in web pages; others involve initiating a conventional telephone call from one end or the other.[1]
