Compositio Mathematica (or simply Compositio; print: ISSN 0010-437X, online: ISSN 1570-5846) is a bimonthly peer-reviewed mathematics journal established by L.E.J. Brouwer in 1935.[1] It is published by Cambridge University Press. According to the Journal Citation Reports, Compositio had a 2010 impact factor of 0.941, ranking it 54th among 279 journals in the category "Mathematics".[2] Since 2004 the journal has been published in cooperation with the London Mathematical Society.
The three managing editors are E.M. Opdam, Ben Moonen (University of Amsterdam), and Burt Totaro (University of Cambridge).[3]
Early history
The journal was established by Brouwer in response to his dismissal from Mathematische Annalen in 1928.[4] An announcement of the new journal was made in a 1934 issue of the American Mathematical Monthly.[5] In 1940 the publication of the journal was suspended due to the German occupation of Holland.[4]
