Non-probability sample
Appearance
A non-probability sample from a population is one in which the probability that any particular member of the population will appear in the sample cannot be estimated. For example, pollsters calling a list of people to ask them to take part in opinion surveys do not know whether any of the people they are calling will refuse to take part. A non-probability sample is therefore not representative of the population, abd characteristics of the population cannot reliability be inferred from it.
