This was BlackBerry OS debut and it was released for the Pager BlackBerry 580.
On April 2010, RIM announced the BlackBerry OS 6.0 version, which was released in the Q3 2010.[1]

Summer 2011
It was officially released in August 2011 making its appearance on the BlackBerry Bold (9900/9930), BlackBerry Torch (9810/9850/9860), and the BlackBerry Curve (9350/9360/9370/9380). Any previous devices cannot be updated to BlackBerry OS 7. An update with added features, named OS 7.1 was released later that year.[2]

It has now been superseded by version 10, but is still sold by Blackberry on phones. This added several new features compared to 7.0 including[3]
This was an overhaul compared to all the previous versions, using the QNX kernel and dropping backward compatibility. (old OS apps will not work with it) and only being available on the new Blackberry 10 series of smartphones (no upgrade path available from previous phones due to specific hardware requirements not satisfied in the older phones).
