less is a file viewer along the same lines as more, but generally better. On several platforms more does not preserve much in the way of history (i.e., pipe output from a command into more, and one can never go backwards); less always does. It also offers better navigation & searching, and a more rational command set.

Many folks just set PAGER=less and forget about more forevermore.
