Setpoint (control system)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Rbk (talk | contribs) at 08:11, 25 February 2013 (clarify that this is the process output (not the controller output)). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Setpoint is the desired process output that an automatic control system will aim to reach. For example, a boiler might have a temperature setpoint, that is the temperature the control system aims to attain.
