I don't know anything about this topic, but I have some questions that might yield information that is good for the article. I also don't know much about music in general, so please excuse me if I ask something stupid.

  • Are there programs that are capable of turning musical notation, combined with instrument information, into music?
  • Are any of the programming languages listed "easy" to pick up and play with, even if they don't offer lots of control over the result? If so, which ones?
  • Are any of these programming languages widely used to create music?
