A question of scope

HTTP URL aliasing is certainly not limited to the concept of automatically generating a shorter link to replace a longer one. Other concepts under the same banner include PURLs, which are not necessarily shorter (often they are more descriptive), created for the purpose of decreasing volatility through abstraction, as well as others already listed in URL redirection. Since this article is only the length of a section anyway, why not merge? Dro Kulix 06:03, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
