Assault Plus is a multi-directional shooter arcade game that was released by Namco in 1988, and as the name suggests it is the sequel to Assault. It was originally only released in Japan, and at power-on contains a message saying: "This game is for use exclusively in Japan. The sale, export, use or operation of this game outside of Japan may be a violation of international copyright, trademark and/or other related laws subjecting the violator to legal penalties." A small number of games have been exported after release anyway.

Gameplay

The gameplay is almost identical to Assault but it gives you an option of playing an "easy" or "normal" mode, whereas the original version didn't provide such an option. Minor changes in graphics and difficulty were also made.

Technical Info

The game ran on Namco System 2 hardware. The Assault Plus board has identical connections as the Assault board, and can be swapped in the same cabinet for an "upgrade".
