PowerINSPECT is a CAD based inspection solution package for use with many types of inspection hardware[1] , including manual and CNC CMMs, portable arms, optical measuring devices and CNC machine tools (OMV). Developed by Delcam plc for use on Microsoft Windows, the software is sold to a wide range of industries and ensures quality for leading manufacturers.
An intuitive user-interface and an efficient inspection sequence helps to reduce inspection time and manufacturing costs.[2]
History
PowerINSPECT evolved from a Delcam France project concerning the inspection of complex CAD surfaces. In 1998 the software became Delcam PowerINSPECT, originally for use on portable measurement devices and manual CMMs. In 2001 PowerINSPECT CNC was introduced and subsequent developments introduced Laser Scanning functionality and PowerINSPECT OMV.
In 2004 Delcam won a Queen’s award[3] [4] for innovation for PowerINSPECT and by 2008 PowerINSPECT was Delcam’s second biggest selling product. In 2010 the PowerINSPECT started to release two updates each year.
The latest version of PowerINSPECT (PowerINSPECT 2012 R2) was released in July 2012 . PowerINSPECT 2012 R2 boasts increased functionalities, enhancing inspection capabilities and continuing the development of reverse engineering capabilities.[5]
PowerINSPECT Modules
PowerINSPECT modules are known as flavours. As the world-leading hardware independent inspection software[6], PowerINSPECT is available in multiple flavours, including PowerINSPECT Manual, PowerINSPECT CNC and PowerINSPECT OMV.[1]
PowerINSPECT Manual
PowerINSPECT Manual allows the measurement of any part, from assemblies to individual components, with or without CAD.
PowerINSPECT CNC
PowerINSPECT CNC is Delcam’s solution for use on CMMs. PowerINSPECT CNC offers inspectors a tool for creating preferred manual probing sequences, reducing the inspection learning curve to a minimum.
PowerINSPECT OMV
PowerINSPECT OMV is an inspection software that allows us to use our machine tool to measure a component. Because PowerINSPECT OMV is hardware independent, the software is compatible with any of the mainstream machine controllers.
