Party with a Local is a geosocial networking application and social discovery platform for the iPhone. It is a free application with the aim of connecting travellers and locals that want to party.
Description
The application combines GPS location information with a social networking framework, providing Party with a Local users with the opportunity to meet other users who are within a close physical proximity. The application can be used to communicate a users specific location, such as sharing a local bar or club a user wants to meet at. Users must be over the age of 18.
Users login to the application using Facebook, then some basic information (name, age, sex, location) is taken from Facebook and used to fill in a users profile. Other optional profile information, including photos, a biography and other details, can also be added within the application. Users are then are able to browse other people who are nearby to their present location, chat with them and arrange to meet up and party together if mutually desired. The application only provides an estimate of the users location and doesn't display a users location on a map. It is intended to be a tool for connecting travellers and locals that like to party.
Platforms
Party with a Local is currently available for iOS devices through the iTunes app store. As of October 2012, the application is free for users.
History
