Proposals, October 2012
Please check how many articles qualify for a stub type before proposing it.
If (after approval) you create a stub type, please be sure to add it to the list of stub types. This page will be archived in its entirety once all discussions have been closed; there is no need to move them to another page.

- Category:New Zealand scientist stubs for {{NewZealand-botanist-stub}} and {{NewZealand-scientist-stub}} (156 stubs)
- Category:New Zealand business biography stubs for {{NewZealand-business-bio-stub}} (209 stubs)
- Category:New Zealand military personnel stubs for {{NewZealand-mil-bio-stub}} (224 stubs)

I propose creating Category:Prehistoric lobe-finned fish stubs and {{paleo-lobefinned-fish-stub}} to catch these, removing them from the oversized Category:Prehistoric bony fish stubs. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 06:07, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Prehistoric cartilaginous fish stubs
Hi there. I have been going through the Category:Prehistoric fish stubs and there seem to be a lot of cartilaginous fish there, as this search shows. I think it is time to create the category:Prehistoric cartilaginous fish stubs. Regards, --Fabio Descalzi, aka Fadesga (talk) 20:42, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support, along with a double-upmerged (for now) {{paleo-shark-stub}} to catch these. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 05:53, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Comic book film stubs
There are currently 168 stub articles about comic book related films. Not all of these articles are tagged, and there is no one stub tag that would cover all the articles. I propose the creation of a {{Comics-film-stub}}, which would populate either Category:Comics film stubs or Category:Comic book film stubs. The category would be a child of both Category:Film stubs by genre and Category:Comics stubs. Fortdj33 (talk) 19:39, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- It looks fine, but I'm a bit confused as to why there isn't a permcat for this? SeveroTC 22:34, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- I can start tagging the appropriate articles anytime, but what permcat should the articles be placed into? Fortdj33 (talk) 00:27, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Indian Theatre Stubs
India has rich and current tradition of theatre related activities and structures. I am proposing the following:
- New stub: {{India-theatre-stub}} (peer of, for example, Template:US-theat-stub)
- New Category: Category:India theatre stubs (peer of, for example, Category:United States theatre stubs)
The aim is to further expand these will state-specific stubs in the future. Thanks. -MK 16:05, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
- {{India-theat-stub}} (as per {{theat-stub}} et al). Not sure on Category:India theatre stubs or Category:Indian theatre stubs, but either would require a minimum 60 articles. SeveroTC 16:39, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support. Although current regional theatre stub cats are split 2 and 2 on the issue, I think Category:Indian theatre stubs would be better (when 60 found), to match Indian culture stubs, Indian film stubs, etc. --Qetuth (talk) 23:06, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Mosque templates
Propose exploratory templates for any countries where the Muslim population is estimated at more than 20 million. See List of countries by Muslim population.
- {{Afghanistan-mosque-stub}}
{{Algeria-mosque-stub}}(Already exists)- {{Bangladesh-mosque-stub}}
- {{Egypt-mosque-stub}}
- {{Ethiopia-mosque-stub}}
- {{India-mosque-stub}}
- {{Indonesia-mosque-stub}}
- {{Iran-mosque-stub}}
- {{Iraq-mosque-stub}}
- {{Morocco-mosque-stub}}
- {{Nigeria-mosque-stub}}
- {{Pakistan-mosque-stub}}
- {{PRChina-mosque-stub}}
- {{SaudiArabia-mosque-stub}}
- {{Sudan-mosque-stub}}
- {{Syria-mosque-stub}}
- {{Turkey-mosque-stub}}
- {{Uzbekistan-mosque-stub}}
- {{Yemen-mosque-stub}}
Dawynn (talk) 10:24, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
- Some of the numbers will be very small, but I don't see a problem with upmerged templates. However, there seem to be no articles as yet on mosques in Ethiopia. Looking at the country categories, {{Azerbaijan-mosque-stub}} and {{Singapore-mosque-stub}} may be worth adding. SeveroTC 11:25, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support saves double-stubbing the whole category, and obvious room for future growth as coverage improves. --Qetuth (talk) 22:34, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
Sarcopterygii
Hi. I am going through the prehistoric bony fish stubs; at the same time, I look at the pages linked to the article Sarcopterygii, and there are over 400 of them. There must be a lot of stubs related to that. What about creating a Category:Sarcopterygii stubs? Regards, --Fabio Descalzi, aka Fadesga (talk) 01:01, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
- Scanned the Category:Lobe-finned fish and found these results. 211 articles. I think it is worth a separate stub category. Regards, --Fabio Descalzi, aka Fadesga (talk) 15:41, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support – seems overdue to me. --Epipelagic (talk) 15:52, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- Category created as Category:Lobe-finned fish stubs (by analogy with the existing Category:Ray-finned fish stubs. Corresponding stub templates available. --Fabio Descalzi, aka Fadesga (talk) 16:13, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support, of course. I don't think you needed this discussion for that. It's not controversial, just neglected. -- OBSIDIAN†SOUL 00:02, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
We have full categories for String, Woodwind, Percussion, and Electronic. Propose starting with an exploratory template for Brass, category if sufficient articles found. Dawynn (talk) 10:35, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Beryciformes stubs
I have been going through the Category:Fish stubs and the Category:Ray-finned fish stubs. I have seen a lot of Beryciformes. What about creating a Template:Beryciformes-stub and a Category:Beryciformes stubs? Greetings, --Fabio Descalzi, aka Fadesga (talk) 22:02, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support template, category if sufficient articles found. I approve the category name, but please hold off on building the category until 60+ articles tagged. Dawynn (talk) 13:51, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
- I guess the moment has come to create the Category:Beryciformes stubs, as the number of stubs is already over 60. Regards, --Fabio Descalzi, aka Fadesga (talk) 00:40, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
New crustacean category and templates
Propose the following:
- Category:Maxillopoda stubs / {{maxillopoda-stub}}.
- Requires resurrecting the template (currently redirected to {{crustacean-stub}}. Tagging all of the appropriate animals in the Crustacean stub category will result in 41 articles, but this category will also become a parent for Category:Copepod stubs.
- {{ostracoda-stub}}.
- For this, resurrect and rename {{ostracod-stub}} (currently redirected to {{crustacean-stub}}. Tagging all of the appropriate animals in the Crustacean stub category will result in 30 articles. Continue to upmerge this to Category:Crustacean stubs.
Dawynn (talk) 12:33, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. Not needed, and too few articles to be worthwhile, in both cases. This is a waste of time and a waste of effort. Category:Crustacean stubs is not excessively large, having only 86 articles left. This proposal would thus replace one good stub category with three bad ones. The proposal has nothing to recommend it and should be dropped immediately. --Stemonitis (talk) 14:29, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- While I don't mind letting the Ostracods go, refusing the creation of a Maxillopoda category leaves an odd unparallel situation. Subclass Copepoda is then presented at the same level as classes Branchiopoda and Malacostraca. Adding a Maxillopoda category will provide a parallel set of three classes under Category:Crustacean stubs. Dawynn (talk) 15:05, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- The taxonomic rank of the subcategories is entirely irrelevant; that is not the purpose of the stub category hierarchy. Stub categories are supposed to divide stubs into groups of manageable size – say, 60–600. There is absolutely no need for different stub categories to be at the same taxonomic rank. Odd and unparallel it may be, but it is far more practical, and that is what this process should be aiming towards. --Stemonitis (talk) 15:10, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

British act of parliament stubs
Both Category:United Kingdom law stubs and Category:Statute stubs are oversized. It looks like there are around 450 articles in their intersection. Propose {{UK-statute-stub}} and Category:United Kingdom Acts of the Parliament stubs to hold these. Not sure if there is a better category name though. The permcat is at Category:Acts of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, whereas the only existing sibling is at Category:United States federal legislation stubs. --Qetuth (talk) 17:17, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- In general, support. The problem in the naming comes from the permcats reflecting the legal status of the parliament - that of England, Great Britain, the UK and also of Northern Ireland and the two incarnations of the parliament in Scotland. Will the new types cover all the parliaments? Or are they restricted to the parliament from 1801 onwards? If the former, perhaps Category:United Kingdom statute stubs: if the later, perhaps Category:Acts of the Parliament of the United Kingdom stubs. SeveroTC 12:46, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy Indian building and structure stubs
- Propose Category:Indian church stubs for both {{India-church-stub}} and the unproposed but perfectly good {{India-RC-church-stub}}, which have reached 60 transclusions between them.
- Propose Category:Indian museum stubs for {{India-museum-stub}}, which has passed 60 transclusions.
- Propose upmerged templates {{India-hotel-stub}} and {{India-bridge-struct-stub}}.
