I have a IO APIC setting on my BIOS, that I can put to Enabled or Disabled.
This is likely to switch between APIC (enabled) and PIC (disabled)
I find "and is found in most x86 SMP motherboards." in the first paragraph, ambiguous. It implies that it is exclusive to x86 SMP motherboards, but such exclusivity is not otherwise declared. Can someone clarify on this point? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.223.42.130 (talk) 18:26, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
As I understand it all SMP and ACPI compliant systems have APICs. I don't have a real source for that, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.123.107.227 (talk) 03:36, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
