According to David A. Mindell, a professor at MIT, GEORGE was written by Hal Laning, an engineer at MIT's Instrument Laboratory. Laning writes in his 2008 book DIGITAL APOLLO (MIT Press) that Laning's creation lent its important equation handling concepts to FORTRAN. Can someone help resolve the discrepancy?
