Usually referred to as SITA, the 'Swedish interactive thresholding algorithm is a method to test for visual field loss, usually in glaucoma testing or monitoring.
It uses an analysis of neighboring points to shorten the test time and, indirect, increase the chance of reliability by decreasing patient fatigue. Compared to full threshhold testing, the total testing time can be reduced by 50%.
The testing mode interrupts testing when measurement error is reached. This results in a shorter test time with reportedly equal accuracy as other automated threshold visual fields.
Available in many automated perimeters, the SITA mode is widely used.
