Would you consider using a Wikipedia:Preload to get the "#REDIRECT [[ ]]" into the edit box? (I know, I know, I'm typing here more than all the redirects ... :-)
I tried to create a redirect page by copying "Jan Milíč z Kroměříže" into the popup box. Woohoo! It created "Jan Milí%u010D z Krom%u011B%u0159í%u017Ee"! Not quite the same thing. :-)
