Linux XP is a discontinued[1] shareware Linux distribution designed to imitate Windows environment using GNOME desktop; it can run some Microsoft Windows programs using Wine compatibility layer. First released by EnabledPeople, it was later owned and developed by the Trustverse company based in Moscow, Russia.[citation needed]

Linux XP comes with a graphical interface similar to Windows Vista. Like in Windows XP, Linux XP had to be registered within a 30-Day trial period after installation, or the OS would deactivate. [citation needed]
