Linux XP is a shareware Linux distribution designed to imitate Windows environment using GNOME desktop; it can run some Microsoft Windows programs using Wine compatibility layer. First released by EnabledPeople, it is currently owned and developed by the Trustverse company based in Moscow, Russia.[citation needed]

The current stable version of Linux XP is titled Linux XP Desktop 2008; it comes with a graphical interface similar to Windows Vista. Like in Windows XP, Linux XP has to be registered within a 30-Day trial period after installation, or the OS will deactivate. The English version of Linux XP web site is again online and provides the download link. The Russian mirror site is maintained in a more current state though; it provides a working download link and instructs that a serial number can be bought through Softkey, a Russian online store. The Russian site is active and announcing news.

A September 9, 2008 Distrowatch update [1] lists an active download link that has both Russian and International versions of the distribution; the Russian subdirectory hosts .ISO images of Home and Enterprise versions and the International version comes in a single DVD image, plus a torrent file for easier downloading.
