The Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter (commonly known as the GameCube BBA) is a broadband modem for the Nintendo GameCube console. Snapping easily into Serial Port 1 on the underside of the console.

Online

It is currently online for only 3 titles, all of which are [Sega] Phantasy Star Online of different versions (Phantasy Star Online Versions 1&2, Phantasy Star Online Versions 1&2 Plus (not released in Europe) and Phantasy Star Online BlueBurst.

LAN

Another use of this adapter is LAN. Games such as Mario Kart: Double Dash, Kirby Air Ride and 1080 Avalanche, boast of this feature, ironically all Nintendo made titles. However, using tunneling software, it has been made possible to play these LAN games over the Internet with software such as Warp Pipe, and XLink Kai.

Shortages

When the adapter was launched in the UK, about a couple of months after its lanuch, shortages accured. The was not recovered from quickly and has lead to them becoming rare and fetching high prices on EBay.
