"Media Object" is a portion of one or more elements that may contain video, images, and/or audio. The primary purpose of the Media Object is to provide a wrapper around a set of alternative presentations of the same information. Media objects have to do with sound or audio and include speakers, microphones, and other instruments.

"Media Object" is also used in webpages as well. An images, embedded video, or audio object in a web page also refer as "Media Objects".
