The Hanwen School – Pearl Delta International School (in process) (or PDIS for short) is the UK Curriculum International curriculum school for children aged 5-12 (Primary 1 to 8) (For the year 2012) serving expatriates living in Guangzhou, China.

Administration

The school will be managed by Sino-Indian Education Alliance Ltd a company registered in Hong Kong and China. Currently the initiative is supported by

  • Sino-India Education & Technology Alliance, Beijing, China.
  • Indian Consulate General of Guangzhou.
  • Guangzhou Indian Association.
  • Indian Chamber of Commerce Education Trust, Hong Kong.
  • Overseas Indian Organization, Hong Kong.
  • Consulate offices of other Asian countries in Guangzhou.

Based on the needs and affordability of the low and middle income expatriate families residing in Guangzhou, the above mentioned school is being established targeting the Indian and other Asian community. The Indian community in Guangzhou has reached to more than 10,000 people due to the strong business links between India and the Guangdong province. The trade currently at USD 75 billion is growing strongly between China and India and expected to reach to more than 100 billion USD by 2015. More Indian business community will move to China and many Chinese companies are planning to expand to India. 60% of trade between India and China originate from Guangdong province. In addition to exports to India, the Indian community is involved in export of Chinese commodities to Africa, Europe, South America and Middle Easter Countries through their parent companies based in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand etc. The school is being established to provide primary and secondary school education to the all communities living in and around Guangzhou. The school will also focus to provide Chinese language and Cultural studies to the students to better understand China. The School in turn will organize and provide various languages and cultural programs to the local Chinese community to foster better understand India and its diversities.

Curriculum

The school will follow UK curriculum for Year 1-9 that leads to IGCSE (International General Certificate off Secondary Education) for classes Year 10 and 11 and A-Levels for the classes Year 12-13. School has English medium of Instruction with compulsory Chinese language learning. Student may take is as either Second language or Third language along with English as the First language. All students will have opportunity to learn other Foreign languages like French and Arabic. Already plans are there to have Hindi, Yoga and other regional languages and cultural activities and classes in the city center for the students of our school on Saturdays. We prefer to have Secular, Liberal Curriculum, All round education, Co-education, emphasis on games and sports and extra-curricular activities. Clubs are there to make the students participate in various extra-curricular activities.

Location and Facilities

The Hanwen-PDIS is located in Luo gang near Tianhe station. How to Reach : Take Metro line 3 to Tianhe Coach Terminal (Tianhe bus station), exit B, walk 30m to bus station. Take bus 345 and get off at Changping stop. Walk back to opposite road through bridge for 50m, you'll see the school beside the road. The campus has Staff quarters facility. The existing boarding facility will be used in future.

Admissions

Entry

All expatriates are allowed to enroll in our school. Local Chinese students are not allowed to enroll. In the first year of operation (2012-13) the school will not offer places in Years 4-5 and Years 9-13, the years of IGCSEs and A-level respectively. However, places will be available in 4-5 years provided there are minimum of 5 students in a class. As year 3 students progress the following year into Years 4 and year 8 students progress the following year into Years 9, all year groups will be in place in next few years. The age guidelines for entry to Pearl Delta International in August 2012 are as follows:

Application Process

All students follow the same initial process when applying for entry to Pearl Delta International School. Copies of the following documents & application fee are required for admission.

  • Your Birth Certificate or Statutory Declaration
  • Your latest report
  • 2 self-addressed and stamped envelopes
  • Parent's or guardian's China resident visa, and
  • 2 recent Photographs

Working Hours

  • School functions between 8am-2.30pm.
  • 7 sessions for a day.
  • Each session is for 35 minutes.
  • A short break of 15 minutes in the morning.
  • Lunch break of 45 minutes.

Catering

Catering services are provided by Indian caterers. Students can bring their food from home or to purchase foods from Canteen at lunch. Different menus are available every day for Breakfast and lunch. Snack section is also available in the canteen which the student can avail during the lunch break.

Bus Services

Bus are arranged to pick up children from various locations of the city.
