Biodegradable Packaging for Environment Co. Ltd. or BPE or Biochannaoy is a thai company, manufacturer of biodegradable, compostable and disposable tableware products, in bagasse, which is a natural product not from wood, but from the pulp of sugar cane.


1. History

Founded in January 2005 by the Doctor Weerachat Kittirattanapaiboon, the headquarters of the company is located in Bangkok with its industrial facilities in the province of Chainat (approximately 188 kms north of Bangkok). Biodegradable Packaging for Environment Co., Ltd. is the first and only one company in Thailand to be awarded the BOI Privilege in the environmental category.

The company is now leader, for this range, in Thailand. [1] · [2] · [3] · [4].

Major shareholders are MDS group (M.D. Synergy, Ltd.) [5], National Innovation Agency, Ministry of Science and Technology in Thailand, and Office of SMEs Promotion, Ministry of Industry in Thailand.

The company currently has over 400 employees and produces over 200 million items per year.

2. Environmental concerns

Factory's energy runs completely on water steam. All wastes from the production process are recycled. Bagasse is a natural product, Biodegradable in 45 days in a landfill or in nature.

3. Products

Products are in bagasse, so it means that they can be frozen, they can go to an oven, and they are microwavable. Products are UV pasteurized, and are good for health, and safe for the food contact.[6].

4. Identity

BPE is known for his brands Bio, Bioware, Biobagasse or smartware.


5. Awards

BPE received awards: Demark Award, Good Design Award, and the Certificate of material excellence.[7]
