The Portland Linux/Unix Group (PLUG)

(aka the Portland Linux Users Group)

PLUG is a group of Linux enthursiasts in Portland Oregon (USA). The group was started in early 1994 as a venue to discuss and promote Linux.

PLUG's activities include the following:

  • Active mailing lists - The group's general list averages between 800 and 1000 messages a month (as of 2004).

Other groups and projects assoicated with PLUG include:

  • The Linux Fund - LinuxFund gives grants to worthy Open Source projects.
  • FreeGeek - a not for profit community organization that recycles used technology to provide computers, education, internet access and job skills training to those in need in exchange for community service.
