Portland Linux/Unix Group
The Portland Linux/Unix Group (PLUG)
(aka the Portland Linux Users Group)
PLUG is a group of Linux enthursiasts in Portland Oregon (USA). The group was started in early 1994 as a venue to discuss and promote Linux.
PLUG's activities include the following:
- Active mailing lists - The group's general list averages between 800 and 1000 messages a month (as of 2004).
- Linux Advanced Topic Talk - A mothly meeting covering subjects that are considered too technical for average users.
- PLUG's Linux Clinic - A monthly installfest
- PLUG for Education - A group dedicated to promoting Linux for use in education.

- The Linux Fund - LinuxFund gives grants to worthy Open Source projects.
- FreeGeek - a not for profit community organization that recycles used technology to provide computers, education, internet access and job skills training to those in need in exchange for community service.
- PersonalTelco - a wireless community project. PersonalTelco is the reason Portland was declared the most Un-wired city in America in 2003.
