This is a subproject to the Missing articles project. Its main purpose is to coordinate a group effort to create editable, text indexes from public domain, scanned encyclopedias and related subject matter.
For example:
- In the case of Cyclopaedia, the first encyclopedia, users would skim through the online scans, and type out the title of every entry. This list of entries will then be added to the Missing Articles project.
- In the case of encyclopedias which already have indexes scanned, this project might be used for coordinating OCR and proofreading efforts.
