Proposals, December 2011
Please check how many articles qualify for a stub type before proposing it.
If (after approval) you create a stub type, please be sure to add it to the list of stub types. This page will be archived in its entirety once all discussions have been closed; there is no need to move them to another page.
NEW PROPOSALS
Luge and bobsleigh bios templates
The following seem worthwhile, upmerged for now as they will take just over 30:
- {{US-luge-bio-stub}}
- {{Russia-luge-bio-stub}}
- {{Canada-bobsleigh-bio-stub}}
- {{France-bobsleigh-bio-stub}}
Any objections to speedy? SeveroTC 13:49, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Hip hop biography stubs
The upmerged {{Hiphop-bio-stub}} has reached 189 transclusions: speedy Category:Hip hop biography stubs. SeveroTC 13:22, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Italian music biography stubs
From Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Stub sorting, create: Category:Italian music biography stubs To hold:
- {{Italy-music-bio-stub}} (25 P)
- Category:Italian composer stubs / {{Italy-composer-stub}}
- Category:Italian musician stubs / {{Italy-musician-stub}}
- {{Italy-conductor-stub}} (upmerge) (39 P)
Should be speediable as we already have cats for Austria, Poland, the UK and the US. Possibly there's quite a few other countries this structure would work for; I will add looking into it to my list (which has been bloated by Category:Persondata templates without short description parameter). Split by county, there's over 1500.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:55, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- Definitely and speediable. SeveroTC 21:09, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
- Already approved. No need to ask a second time.
{{Jazz-venue-stub}}
Have tried to use this a lot.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:46, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
- Looks good to me. SeveroTC 18:46, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Marvel Comics superhero stub
I would like to create a stub {{Marvel-hero-stub}}, which would place articles into Category:Marvel Comics superhero stubs. This would tie in with the current stub categories for {{Marvel-title-stub}} and {{Marvel-villain-stub}}. This new stub class would be easily populated, as most of the articles in Category:Marvel Comics stubs are about superheroes, and quite a number of the articles in Category:Marvel Comics superheroes are stubs. - Something grates in me about this: in the first place we probably would have been better with a {{Marvel-char-stub}} - although the numbers probably support separate hero and villain cats. That said, the -hero- stem is as good as -villain- stem and the numbers probably support it (though don't build the cat until the template is used 60 times) so I can support it. SeveroTC 18:49, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
- While I can see the initial advantage of having a {{Marvel-char-stub}}, I'm not sure that it wouldn't eventually need to be divided into sub categories anyway. There are over 1,000 articles in Category:Marvel Comics superheroes, and a couple hundred of them are stubs. Therefore, if the superhero stubs from Category:Marvel Comics stubs are added in, Category:Marvel Comics superhero stubs would be similar to Category:Marvel Comics supervillain stubs, which currently has 354 articles in it. I would be OK with {{Marvel-villain-stub}} being renamed to {{Marvel-char-stub}}, and then all the character stub articles being added to Category:Marvel Comics character stubs, but that will make for one large category, with no distinction between superheroes and supervillains. Fortdj33 (talk) 21:22, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
- Are there any characters apart from heroes and villains? If not, I don't really see the point in a {{Marvel-char-stub}} as the heroes and villains cats won't exactly be too small. SeveroTC 21:41, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
- Of course, comics books have "other characters". These are known as supporting characters. In the Spider-Man comics alone, examples are: Uncle Ben, Aunt May, J. Jonah Jameson, and Mary Jane Watson, although none of these would classify as stubs. Stub examples: Lee Forrester, Christian Frost, and Dexter Bennett.
- I went ahead and created the new stub tag for superheroes, and have started to populate the associated category, by updating stubs from Category:Marvel Comics stubs and Category:Marvel Comics superheroes. As far as the other characters apart from heroes and villains go, I don't believe that there are enough articles to warrant a {{Marvel-char-stub}}, so they can just remain in the generic Marvel stubs category for now. Or is it strictly by genre/period?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:01, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

- We have a {{US-novel-stub}} so I don't see a reason why not - especially if {{Slovenia-stub}} is currently being used on such articles. SeveroTC 18:54, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
