XMLmind is an editor that can create DocBook XSL documents in a WYSIWYG style similar to popular word processors such as LibreOffice Writer.
Generally due to its more technical nature it is more often used by technical writers rather than casual users.
Advantages
The advantage of using the DocBook language is that the content can be passed through a processor into many different formats such as PDF, HTML, XHTML, WebHelp, etc., and therefore is a useful tool for single source publishing.
For newer recruits into the field of technical publishing it may present a less daunting approach than editing DocBook XML by hand.
Disadvantages
Using a WYSIWYG approach in theory breaks a central tennant of the DocBook system whereby content is separated from the presentation of data (allowing authors to concentrate on the content rather than being distracted).
There is no real substitution for the generation of clean content and the level of control that can be achieved by using an editor (such as GNU Emacs) for the editing of the XML manually.
