Permitted Development is an aspect of Town and country planning in the United Kingdom which allows property developers and private individuals to build on, or change the use of, a plot of land or to redevelop an existing building.

What is considered to be permitted development is set out in the Statutory Instrument - the The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 and various other subsequent documents.
