Processing and Management was founded as Information Storage and Retrieval in 1963. In 1975 it changed its name to the present one. Prof. Bernard Fry of Indiana University was the Editor-in-Chief Editor-in-Chief from 1965-1985 followed by Professor Tefko Saracevic1985-2008; from 2008 Editor-in-Chief is Prof. Fabio Crestani of University of Lugano, Switzerland
