Assignment statement is a statement where a destination is assigned a specific value , mostly copied from a source , where the source can be either a variable , a constant or any other .

C++ Example:

int x , y ;
y = 5 ; //y is assigned a value of a constant , 5
x = y ; //x is assigned a value of a variable , y
