This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Aymatth2 (talk | contribs) at 17:29, 6 November 2011 (moved SX/EW to Solvent extraction electrowinning: words better than acronyms). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Solvent extraction/electrowinning (SX/EW) is a two-stage process that first extracts and upgrades copper ions from low-grade leach solutions into a concentrated electrolyte, and then deposits pure copper onto cathodes using an electrolytic procedure.
