"Rob Lear is an artist with undoubted quality, which shines throughout the quirky and creative pop-rock tones. This is backed up in the skilful ability to write likeable, catchy and bouncy tunes that make you sit up and smile and want to hum along. new track ‘A Million Stars’ is a laid back and relaxing tune with fantastic rhythm and melody. There is an awe-inspiring air following Rob around because of the exemplary standard set in the ability to create such simple yet mind-bending songs. “It’s more about enjoying and exploring the fact that I can make music” Rob Lear is still a refreshing talent, and showcases his continued dedication through a brand new mini-album called ‘A Million Stars’, which also includes the floaty and adventurous Beautiful Face, and the surreal ‘Heaven Help’ which just grows and grows. It’s a great record. Rob Lear is an artist you just have to go see, have a pint, and let the music wash all your worries away." ............................................Plugged in magazine, Dec ‘09

The stage at 10 Feet Tall isn’t the biggest, and it struggled to contain the personalities involved in the night’s proceedings. First up was Rob Lear, a criminally underrated singer-songwriter who – in a 20-year musical career – has had several skirmishes with success courtesy of wonderfully talented Welsh should-have-beens The Proud Marys and Lear. This evening it’s just Rob and an acoustic guitar, but there’s a rare depth and beauty to his songs that suggest if they were ever heard in a wider context, he’d be a household name. Million Stars, Snowblind and Heaven Help are stand outs – all infused with a lovely playful melodic sensibility that recalls the finer moments of The Beautiful South. A roll-call of testimonies from various music industry figures adorns Rob’s website (www.roblear.co.uk). One in particular jumps out at you. “If nothing happens to these songs then the record industry must have s*** in their ears” – Kingsley Ward, owner of Rockfield Studios. Given the owner of the legendary studios has witnessed the likes of Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Stone Roses and Oasis pass through his doors, you would imagine he knows what he’s talking about. And on this occasion it’s hard to disagree with him
