Worker Protection Standard

The Worker Protection Standard is intended to protect employees on farms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses that are occupational exposures to agricultural pesticides.[1]

This is managed by the Environmental Protection Agency, and is separate from the Hazard Communication Standard managed by OSHA.

Requirement

40 CFR Part 170 requires the following in the United States.[2]

  • pesticide safety training
  • notification of pesticide applications
  • use of personal protective equipment
  • restricted entry intervals following pesticide application
  • decontamination supplies
  • emergency medical assistance
