Architecture-Studio is an architecture and urban planning practice, founded in Paris in 1973. Today, AS.Architecture-Studio brings together, around twelve partners, a team of architects, urban planners, designers and interior designers of twenty-five different nationalities. AS.Architecture-Studio has offices in Paris, Shanghai, Beijing and more recently in Venice.

History

AS.Architecture-Studio defines architecture as an art “committed with society, the construction of our living environment”, based on group work and shared knowledge. Thanks to the will to go beyond individuality and to favour dialogue and debate, the sum of all individual knowledge results in an increased creative potential. As a proof of its collective approach, the group has progressively grown. Its founder, Martin Robain, was joined by Rodo Tisnado in 1976, Jean-François Bonne in 1979, Alain Bretagnolle and René-Henri Arnaud in 1989, Laurent-Marc Fischer in 1993, Marc Lehmann in 1998, Roueïda Ayache in 2001, Gaspard Joly, Marica Piot, Mariano Efron and Amar Sabeh El Leil in 2009. The architectural debate is rich, as experience is constantly accompanied by innovation.

“AS’s” projects present themselves to the city as “enigmas”. Priority is given to the completion of projects. The European Parliament in Strasburg, the Arab World Institute (Equerre d’Argent and Aga Khan Award for Architecture) and Notre-Dame de l’Arche d’Alliance church are among the practice’s symbolic achievements, which also include the restructuring of Maison de Radio France and Jussieu Campus, as well as of Advancia business school in Paris. AS.Architecture-Studio works on all scales, from large urban projects such as the development of the North-Eastern sector in Chartres to the renovation of very old buildings such as Palazzo Santa Maria Nova in Venice. AS.Architecture-Studio has become more and more present on the international stage, particularly in China and in the Middle East. Their latest big international projects include the Onassis cultural centre in Athens, the Lhassa Natural Science Museum, the Bahrain National Theatre, the Souria towers in Damascus, the Amman Rotana Hotel tower and the Cultural Centre in Muscat (Sultanate of Oman).
