The Battle of Ras Ajdir is a battle for a key Libya-Tunisia border post in Libya's extreme Northwest.[1]

The post had been a key supply line to the capital, Tripoli.[2]

The Battle

On the night of the 13th of August, rebel forces assaulted the crossing. The loyalists responded with tanks and other heavy weaponry, completely repeling the rebel assault.[3][4]

On the 21st of August, rebel forces again reached the crossing, however, they met stiff resistance from what were reported to be 'non-uniformed Gaddafi loyalists'. Rebels made gains but were once again repulsed by artillery fire. Despite this, the crossing remains contested.[5]

There have been unconfirmed reports that the Tunisian police have been involved in the fighting, but it is unclear in exactly what capacity.[6]
