Wikipedia:Tutorial (historical)/Editing/sandbox

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Routermonkey (talk | contribs) at 05:14, 3 July 2004. The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Everything from here on down, including this text, was created by people playing in the sandbox. To test this click on the tab "edit this page" above.

The table of contents shows up before the first header. If anything is typed before the first header, it shows up here, above the table of contents.

Bulleted & Numbered Items

  • Let me add a new line to this page and see how it works. This is a cool stuff.

(The above items also use the <math> </math> tags.)

  1. How about this line
    1. More indent on this line
      1. some more indentation to check the sub heading formats
  2. It is not necessary to lead each item with a space

You obtain the numbering and indentation using the simple "sharp" sign. One sharp = One level.

E.g.

  1. Level one (This is actually "# Level one")

I like lists:

  • Fruit
    • Apples
      • Jonathon
      • Pink Lady
      • Granny Smith
      • Fuji
    • Oranges
      • Seville
      • Navel
  • Bread
    • Sour dough
    • Cape seed

and so on...

You obtain the bulleting and indentation using the asterisk. One asterisk = One level.

E.g.

  • Level one (This is actually "* Level one")

Bold & Italics

Does this bold and italicize the text

This is a section

This is supposed to be a sub-section

  • This
    • Is
      • Hopefully
        • A
          • List
  1. Indented1
    1. Indented2
    2. Indented3
      1. Another one bites the dust
      2. The end

Hello

Hello World! ............ Humlebæk says Hello! (Notice that a single carriage return doesn't produce a paragraph break; that takes TWO returns. Like after this sentence.)

Wherever you go, there you are. Here I am! Here I am!

Math & Special Formatting

If there were more people in the world, there would doubtlessly also be more excrement, yes that means a lot more SHIT!!.However: so maybe we can use it as FUEL.

When you start a line with a space, two things happen:

  1. it gets a box drawn around it, and
  2. the text will NOT WRAP at the end of the line.

This is primarily intended for such uses as showing lines of computer code exactly as they should be entered, where extra line breaks can cause a problem. It corresponds to the pre HTML tag.

Why is this page so wide? Probably because this line of text does not wrap:

If such a simple equation exists, why do people who complain of having poopy lives also insist on procreating?

More heading

Birds of a feather This is a pretty cool way of keeping the content up to date. However, how do we keep the material accurate?

Italic text==Header== >_> How now, red cow?

Bananas are nice, but not so nice as chocolate. Shame I have neither bananas nor chocolate here. Banana was an African dictator whose "banana" got him in trouble with his prostate subjects.

Big Attention-Grabbing Headline Text

And the headline text now has both words capitalised. Interesting...

Now for Big Stuff

Hmmm, this is easier than it looks.

I have a signature??? --User: Steve H 21:40, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC) Oh, I guess I do!

Is heading distinguished from normal text by "==" at the beginning and the end

Hmmm, How do they do that? Just as *I* said.

I'm so incompetent with general computer stuff that it will be a miracle if my computer doesn't revolt while I'm trying to learn this complicated stuff!

Test

"another test"

I'm interested in learning my way around a Wiki so I can use a commercial tool at work. Setting up a project using Wiki looks like it is as complicated as creating a Web Page.

Bold textYYYYYYYYYYYYo. :o) I think I like this! This is a note I'm typing to edit this page.

Yeah, well, suiting yours.

Test. Test.

"Hello? Hel." - is this mike turned on ? - "Hello?"

This is really cool. The whole concept of a free encyclopedia, maintained by volunteers, is great. After reading various articles, I must say - the quality impresses me greatly! There are many smart people in the world. . . .

Oh!!

How do I write a formula? Whoa!

This is a Heading

A 'bold, pre-sub heading?'

While this is a Sub-heading

And this...you get the idea

Or even...
Or even this!!!
=Or EVEN THIS!!!=

Hey I just might understand that...!

what happens when I do this?

Cool!

How about this?

What of this?

How Long Can I Keep This up For?

 Hello there! I'm Jim D.

Hehe this is Hannah T and I don't know what I'm doing! LAlalalalaa!

If it keeps on raining the levee's going to break If it keeps on raining the levee's going to break When the levee breaks you'll have no place to stay

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan It's got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home

If I separate this like this... what will come of it?

nothing

Does a space at the beginning make that box thing?
 What about two spaces?
but remember to leave a blank line...
or the items will show up together in the same box!

This is my title

  This is a test

and yet another test and now a formula

This just shows that humans from all parts of the world with different cultures can still work and play together..........

Norway

Located in Scandinavian peninsula that shares with Sweden.

Scandinavia

The region of Scandinavia located in northern Europe comprising Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Nordic Countries

Contrary to what many people believe, Finland is not part of Scandinavia. However, the three nations that form Scandinavia, plus Finland and Iceland, are known as the "nordic countries".

To read about nordic wiktionary:culture click here

  • Norway: One of the five nordic countries as well as one of the three scandinavian countries, it is characterized by the high living standards of its 4 million inhabitants. Oslo is the capital city while Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim are other important urban centres.

Font Search engine Éste párrafo se creo desde México. Pretty cool tool!

Denmark

Located in northern continental Europe despite of having a common border with Germany, the Dane culture is closer to the nations across the sea, Sweden and Norway

Iceland's road tunnels have the murkiest atmosphere I've ever seen; it must be all those studded tyres. Yuk! Great scenery, though especially if you like black sand.

Now, how did that come out?

Why did one refrigerator salute the other refrigerator? Because it was General Electric.
