Ceratogaulus was a two horned burrowing rodent. The genus had four species: Ceratogaulus rhinocerus, Ceratogaulus anecdotus, Ceratogaulus hatcheri (originally described as Epigaulus hatcheri) and Ceratogaulus minor (originally described as Epigaulus minor). Fossils have been unearthed in Mexico.
These are the only known rodents and the smallest mammals with horns. A recent study suggest that the horns were used as a defensive weapon [1].
